Lewisham Young Citizens' Panel
Developed as a key part of their youth participation strategy, we worked with the London Borough of Lewisham to develop the flagship Young Citizens Panel (YCP).Through monthly consultations, live events and utilising web 2.0 technology ranging from Twitter and facebook to an interactive wiki site, the YCP collects the views of young people from across the borough and acts as a powerful vehicle to make sure the voice of young people is heard by the Council, it's partners and other local agencies and organisations.
The Young Citizen's Panel sits at the centre of Lewisham's youth engagement offering. Members of the YCP are able to feed into decision making processes in a meaningful and enjoyable way, keep up to date with developments in the borough and communicate with like-minded young people about issues they felt strongly about. The Council and it's partners are able to quickly, easily and effectively draw on a carefully selected and segmented number of engaged young people when necessary in a manner which did not lead to 'consultation fatigue' for an over-burdened group of children and young people.
