NHS Westminster – consultation on website design

NHS Westminster wanted their new website to be an effective tool for communicating with residents and reducing health inequalities. They commissioned research from TCC to ensure that it worked for residents, visitors and staff.

We surveyed over 1000 people face to face, by telephone and online, ran in-depth focus groups, and interviewed key stakeholders inside and outside the PCT to understand what people wanted from a local NHS website and how they would prefer to use it. Our innovative Values Modes methodology made sure we heard from all parts of the community – not just people who are already web-savvy but also those who don’t use the internet but may use it as a resource in the future either by themselves or through family and friends.

The research showed that people wanted simple, localised information, with a strong visual identity and clear signposting. They did not want the site to repeat national information which is available elsewhere on the web. Understanding this helped NHS Westminster to move into the development stages to create a website which truly meets the needs of its diverse population, delivering real value for money by only offering services which people would use.

Our client’s view

“TCC were professional and stimulating – I enjoyed exchanging ideas throughout the project. I would recommend TCC to any NHS body or charity as effective, engaging and ahead of curve. Their costs were extremely reasonable and I feel we got good value for money”.
