RSPCA - Status dogs
TCC was commissioned by the RSPCA to undertake an insight project into the issue of status dogs in inner city areas. Status dogs are a growing issue in terms of animal welfare and also qualtiy of life in many areas - particularly those that are more deprived. Using our experience and trusted relationships in several London boroughs we held several deliberative events with the owners of status dogs to gain a first-hand and accurate understanding of the attitudes and perceptions of this key group.
We are now in the process of working with the RSPCA to test some of the interventions that arose from the project to promote animal welfare, better training (through play rather than fear), and increasing levels of neutering. We are doing this by working directly with young dog owners.
