Community Communicators

Word of mouth communication is more effective..

Community CommunicatorsFor many people, traditional engagement channels and paper communications simply don’t work. If trust and cohesion are low, the council can’t get its message across to the most important groups.

Managed word of mouth communication can break down these barriers. By identifying key influencers in the community - formal and informal - and building relationships with them, we can make sure messages get from the street corner to the top table.

This means the council can track resident opinion and identify problems before they escalate and address myths and misconceptions without resorting to traditional ‘mythbusting’.

You can also use the network to get messages back out to the community, building trust by addressing people’s real concerns.

How TCC can help

TCC pioneered community communicators in Barking and Dagenham in 2007 - it now runs in eight wards with over 200 communicators and many more indirect contacts. We also manage the scheme in the London Boroughs of Bexley, Havering and Sutton.

The project lets authorities create real efficiencies - it gives high quality insight on the topics that matter, helps residents get involved in their local communities, and lets councils address problems before they escalate.

Our expert team offer fully managed schemes, or secondment or pilot projects. All models emphasise partnership working, with sustainability built in from the start.

What do our clients say?

‘TCC are great to work with. They do what they say they will and more. Working with them has significantly enhanced our understanding of the community and given us practical tools to get to grips with the most difficult issues.’
