Engagement and empowerment
At TCC we know that:
- Organisations that engage have conversations that enhance understanding.
- Organisations that involve enhance understanding and change behaviours as a result of their engagement.
- Organisations that empower motivate and equip people to take action as a result of their involvement.
At TCC we work with those who recognise that the most successful organisations are those that want to go beyond consultation.
All areas of public service at a local level are being challenged to engage, involve and empower - in fact the responsibility on members of local partnerships to do and be seen to do this is now enshrined in law. Engaging, involving and empowering everyone and hard to reach groups in particular, requires more than information - it requires a passionate belief that only by going the extra mile and by being creative can you deliver.
TCC team has an excellent track record in finding innovative ways to engage and empower local people in developments that affect them whether it be helping to improve services, to running facilities and influencing key decisions such as budgets to health commissioning plans to community strategies.
We come with:
- first-hand experience of designing, developing and delivering participation programmes that make an impact. Our Young Mayor scheme has been cited in two Government White Papers (including Communities in Control) and is now being rolled out across the country.
- expertise in involving, engaging and empowering those within society who are traditionally disengaged and in motivating them to take action that will make a positive difference to their lives. We have a range of products that involve young people, BAME communities, white working class groups, older people, migrant workers and others.
- experience in supporting and capacity-building political, civic and community leaders - locally nationally and internationally – to enable them to undertake their representative role effectively. This includes supporting board members or trustees within a regeneration context, on a Foundation Trust board or a Youth Board.
The secret to our success is that for every project:
- We carefully identify outcomes
- We use a blend of surveys and facilitated in-depth conversations using appropriate, innovative methodologies and techniques
- We involve and harness the expertise of those we work with to change perceptions and behaviours in key audiences
- We increase understanding
- We build advocacy
