South Kilburn Youth Board
We worked with South Kilburn NDC (New Deal for Communities) and young people in the area to establish and support its first ever elected youth board.

The board is made up of 12 young people aged 11 to 24 who have been elected for a term of one year. They act as spokespeople for the youth of South Kilburn, advise the youth service providers’ forum, NDC board and other bodies, and oversee a budget which has been allocated especially to improve the lives of young people in South Kilburn.
The project was designed by us in conjunction with a reference group of young people from the area, who oversaw the development of the project from the initial proposal through to the design, promotion and conduct of the election.
We worked with local youth service providers and schools to promote the election process, and supported 21 candidates to run their election campaigns. They were trained in:
-
how the election works;
-
how to run a campaign;
-
how to write a manifesto;
-
how to give speeches;
-
how to deal with the media.
We are now supporting the 12 successful candidates to carry out their roles as youth board members, as well as ensuring that the unsuccessful candidates are kept engaged in the political process, eg. by being involved in consultation activities, acting as observers to the youth board, and applying to the youth board for grants.
"I have found The Campaign Company to be very professional, dedicated to their work and always delivering over and above what is expected. They have won the trust and respect of all the young people they have worked with and done an excellent job delivering the project. They are a great organisation to work with, and are very inspiring. The work is always delivered to a very high standard. I would have no hesitation in recommending the organisation".
