David Evans, managing director
david@thecampaigncompany.co.uk

Along with Jonathan Upton, David is co-founder of the company. He oversees the communications and community engagement capacity of the company. His has developed highly innovative methods of engagement such as the widely acclaimed Young Mayor scheme; and our ‘shared challenge’ activities such as Operation Clean Sweep, Recycling for Real and Democracy Wall. He also leads our political leadership work both at home and overseas.

Jonathan Upton , managing director

Jonathan has worked with numerous membership organisations to improve the effectiveness of their campaigns and believes this is only achievable by maximising member involvement. He has been leading The Campaign Company's work within the health sector as the importance of member engagement has increased through the patient choice agenda. He has led our pioneering work with numerous health trusts in developing their membership communities. He also leads our capacity building work with community leaders.

Aline Delawa, executive director

As an associate member of the Market Research Society, Aline ensures that our research work is of the highest standard. She directs our range of community engagement projects and also the company’s communications work with harder to reach groups. She has considerable experience of community development and participation gained in local government, the voluntary sector and politics. She is also on the board of the Forum of Private Business.

Likely to shout about…
giving up a well paid council job to work voluntarily in an orphanage in Casablanca.

Anna Chester, director TCC north

Anna heads our operation in the north. She is highly experienced in the field of community engagement and has a track record of successfully conducting creative political and non political campaigns. She is taking a leading role in our work with NHS foundation trusts, using her considerable experience as a foundation trust governor. Before joining us she worked in the public sector, further education and most recently for Britain in Europe as the campaign director in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Helen Stevens, director of communications

Helen oversees our strategic and corporate communications work particularly in our work with NHS Trusts. Social marketing is at the heart of much of TCCs work and Helen is leading the development of this growing portfolio of TCCs work. Helen joined TCC in early 2007 from the Barnsley Foundation Trust where she was Head of Communications. She has previously worked in both the not-for-profit and private sector.

 

Rachel Gregson, senior communications officer

Rachel is leading our growing area of work in providing specialist communications advice and support to a range of NHS organisation. Rachel joined TCC in the summer of 2007 from the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust where she led the Communications team. Rachel previously worked, with Helen Stevens, for the Barnsley NHS Foundation Trust as a Communications Officer.

 

Sarah Iles, office manager

Sarah joined TCC in August this year as our new Office Manager. Sarah is responsible for the overall management of the office, overseeing the financial systems and is playing a key role in the implementation and control of the project management processes. Sarah graduated from Chichester University as a Secondary teacher in PE and following 3 years in the world of teaching, went travelling around Thailand, Australia and New Zealand for a year and then moved onto gain her project management experience with Specsavers in the UK.

Likely to shout about…
…the fact that I ran and survived the London Marathon in 2002.

But tries to forget…
…that it took me just over 5 hours!

 

Robert Evans, office assistant

Before joining The Campaign Company, Robert worked for ten years as a kitchen assistant at the Elmwood Nursing Home. He has also worked as a shop assistant at the Croydon Co-operative and Sainsbury’s. Rob holds certificates from Lewisham College and the Kentwood Centre.

…his City and Guilds in Maths, being able to send emails and scoring 180 in a round of darts.

…consuming lots of Jaffa Cakes and beer and being sick on David’s settee.

 

Kathryn Upton, senior project officer

Kathryn is a senior projects officer and in addition has responsibility for human resources. She has extensive experience of working with trade unions, which she utilised when co-writing UMF bids for several clients. She had 100% success with these bids – which range from diversity awareness programmes to communications development - and is now involved in ensuring their delivery on behalf of a number of trade unions. A key component of Kathryn’s work is staff development; she spearheaded our successful Investors in People application. She has extensive experience in research, presentation and project management. Previous to working for The Campaign Company, Kathryn worked for UNISON.

Katy Diggory, senior project officer

Katy oversees many of our community engagement projects and has vast experience in engaging hard-to-reach groups in deprived areas of the country. Her primary responsibility is for the company’s health service clients – particularly foundation trusts. She graduated from the University of Bristol with first-class honours in Politics and German, and has worked both within local government and as a freelance journalist. She is also fluent in German, having worked and lived in Munich for a year.

Likely to shout about…
…having her work published in two languages.

But tries to forget…
…regular appearances on German MTV picking her nose.

 

Ben Wild, senior project officer

Ben leads The Campaign Company's work in the climate change sector. Prior to working with us, Ben worked abroad undertaking project development work with refugee community organisations on the Thai/Burmese border and policy work for Amnesty International in Sydney. Prior to that he was working with Reuters ADT developing their Foreign Exchange Trading platform. Ben is also experienced in social research and has just completed a project for the Northern Refugee Centre looking at the impact of the 'Section 4' voucher system on refugee communities in Sheffield.

Morgan McSweeney, senior project officer

Morgan oversees our community participation work with public bodies. He has run election campaigns for New Deal for Communities partnerships, housing associations and local authorities. Morgan joined TCC in October 2007 from Lambeth Council where he was head of the leaders office. Before that he worked as an election organiser in the Labour Party.

…receiving an award on TV for campaigning  from Tony Blair at his last conference .

Joanne Milligan, senior project officer

Joanne joined the company in October 2007. Joanne’s many years of experience in political communications, campaigning and organisation began as a student and she spent 3 years as a full-time activist in the National Union of Students (NUS) before getting a real job. Prior to joining TCC, Joanne worked as a Senior Research and Press Officer for a Member of Parliament having briefly worked in a similar role for a Member of the Scottish Parliament following the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999. She also spent 4 years working in the further education sector in Glasgow.

Graeme Wilson, project officer

Graeme joined The Campaign Company in summer 2007 having previously worked as a Parliamentary researcher for a member of the Liberal Democrat Treasury Team.  Graduating with a degree in politics from the University of Strathclyde in 2001 he has volunteered with Amnesty International in Edinburgh working on a major donor project and also with the Commonwealth Policy Study Unit (CPSU) in London on the Ramphal Centre project. Graeme also spent time working with an environmental tourism company in the Highlands of Scotland.

Matthew Upton, project officer

Matthew joined TCC in 2007 and has specialized in community engagement working. He has worked closely with both Newham Council and a number of Primary Care Trusts.  He studied economics and politics at Manchester University and recently returned from Thailand where he undertook a volunteer placement in an orphanage on the border with Burma.

Eleanor Bullimore, project officer

Eleanor first joined the TCC team as a field-staffer when she was a student reading politics at Sussex University and earned her crust working on the “front line” on a wide range of community based projects and Foundation Trust recruitment. Following her graduation, she joined the Parliamentary village as a Private Secretary and Constituency Caseworker for a Conservative MP before being lured back to TCC as a Project Officer.

Charlie Mansell, research and political development officer
charlie@thecampaigncompany.co.uk

Charlie worked in the Treasury in Whitehall for 16 years and was a local Councillor for 20 years. This included a number of years carrying out the role full time. He was a member of a Community Health Council for 10 years and also a Police Consultative Group. His proudest work was as a non-executive director of a Regeneration Partnership for 10 years, which led to the complete regeneration of a 1,800 home housing estate so that there is now a waiting list to move there instead of residents wanting to move away. After that he was heavily involved in a project to successfully set up an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) for 7,500 homes. Charlie has a wide-ranging knowledge of community engagement across the local government, policing, health and housing sectors through practical and active hands-on involvement over the last 25 years.

Likely to shout about…
...introducing Tony Blair to monetarism!!
