Our clients

TCC has worked with over 250 organisations since our foundation in 2001. These are some of our recent clients:

National/regional bodies
Department for Communities and Local Government

TCC designed and delivered bespoke Leadership Training projects in each of thirty local authorities across England. These were developed to suit the exact needs of each area, but all involved an in-depth research phase followed by reports and workshops for councillors and senior officers. This project has developed a stronger understanding of community cohesion for authorities across the UK, particularly those which face the toughest challenges.

RSPCA

TCC was commissioned by the RSPCA undertake an insight project into the issue of status dogs in inner city areas.  Status dogs are a growing issue in terms of animal welfare and also quality of life in many areas - particularly those that are more deprived. Using our experience and trusted relationships in several London boroughs we held several deliberative events with the owners of status dogs to gain a first-hand and accurate understanding of the attitudes and perceptions of this key group.  We are now in the process of working with the RSPCA to test some of the interventions that arose from the project to promote animal welfare, better training (through play rather than fear), and increasing levels of neutering.  We are doing this by working directly with young dog owners.

Equality and Human Rights Commission

We worked with the EHRC to design structure and facilitate an involvement, consultation and engagement programme in order to evaluate their new equalities scheme. TCC hosted twelve involvement events, working with over 700 people across the UK during the course of this project, and our analysis of the results has been used to inform the development of the Commission's Single Equalities Scheme for 2009-2012.

London Empowerment Network

Under commission from the London Empowerment Partnership, TCC conducted research on factors affecting residents’ perceptions of influence on local decision-making in London boroughs. A key conclusion of TCC’s research was that most residents judge their perceived level of influence in their area on their personal experience of the quality of customer service that they receive from local institutions. The research was discussed at a Conference “Beyond the Usual Suspects – Real Influence Matters” where we reported back to representatives from across London on its conclusions as well as discussing how to improve residents’ experience of influencing local decision-making. It was hosted by London Civic Forum and TCC, and attended by over 100 people representing 20+ London Boroughs as well as a range of government agencies, think tanks, NGOs and third sector organisations

Musicians Union

The Campaign Company worked with the Musician's Union on their innovative Union Modernisation Fund (UMF) round two project. The Musician's Union put together a proposal for a membership consultation on their democratic and participatory structures. The Union had already undertaken significant and innovative reform in the previous five years; this was an opportunity to consult members on how those reforms had bedded in and what the next steps in improving the Union’s democratic structures were.

Local government
Northamptonshire County Council

We recently led the engagement programme for the high-profile ‘You Choose’ campaign to involve residents in deciding how to make £100 million of savings over the next three years.  This included a series of ‘VideoQubes’ throughout the County, deliberative events using our Electronic Insight System and message development which utilised Values Modes, a psychographic segmentation model.  We are currently delivering a quarterly reputation tracking poll looking at, amongst other things, attitudes towards the Big Society.

London Borough of Havering

TCC’s research for the London Borough of Havering revealed low levels of trust in some parts of the borough, with many people not influenced by the council’s written communications. We designed a training programme for 900 frontline council staff which helps them use simple and emotionally intelligent communications techniques to deal with difficult conversations. Delegates lean how to use active listening skills, how to sensitively deliver bad news, and how to challenge myths and negative perceptions without confrontation.

London Borough of Lewisham

We worked with Lewisham to engage young people in democratic processes. This included launching and supporting a Young Mayor scheme and a Young Citizens’ Panel. We also supported their Local Assemblies programme which empowered local residents to get involved in decisions that affect them in the Borough.

Wolverhampton City Council

We ran a Citizens’ Jury for Wolverhampton City Council to involve the public in deciding on its budget priorities for the year 2009/2010. We used our wide experience of delivering innovative community engagement techniques deliberative consultations to develop a bespoke methodology for the two and a half day event. Our expert facilitators worked with a group of jurors who were broadly representative of the borough, considering written statements, interviewing expert witnesses, and working on complex information about the budget. The event gave the jurors a real sense of ownership over the council's decision making, further building its reputation as an empowering authority.

North Tyneside Council

We are working with North Tyneside to develop a more ‘congruent’ approach to communications; which will include the establishment of a network of Community Communicators.  This creates a more effective means of gathering insight from local residents and allows messages to flow out through trusted advocates.

London Borough of Newham

We have a long track record of work in Newham ranging from engagement programmes with local residents on health and crime issues, to the establishment of a Young Mayor programme to ensure young people can feed into decision making locally.  We have recently started a project using values-based segmentation to understand why young Muslims radicalise as part of the PREVENT programme.

Thurrock Council

The Campaign Company (TCC) were commissioned by the Thurrock Local Strategic Partnership to prepare a communications plan to improve community cohesion in the area.  Thurrock is among the bottom ten local authorities in the country for community cohesion, and the LSP were keen to address this by refining their communications with local residents.

London Borough of Barking and Dagenham

TCC began working with the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, and its partners in the local strategic partnership (LSP), to design and implement a programme of Community Engagement activities to inform the development of the Sustainable Community Strategy for the borough.  We have also worked extensively with the Council to tackle cohesion issues, pioneering the set up of a network of peer-to-peer communicators in key wards, and implementing a programme of training for front-line staff in the Borough.

NHS Sheffield

Our work with NHS Sheffield includes an ongoing Social Marketing campaign to raise awareness of issues around Stroke and an award-winning health consultation as part of the ‘Achieving Balanced Health’ strategy.

NHS Westminster

NHS Westminster wanted their new website to be an effective tool for communicating with residents and reducing health inequalities.  We surveyed over 1000 people face to face, by telephone and online, ran in-depth focus groups, and interviewed key stakeholders inside and outside the PCT to understand what people wanted from a local NHS website and how they would prefer to use it.

NHS Barnsley

We are worked with Barnsley PCT to devise a social marketing campaign to increase the number of young people accessing sexual health services in the area.  We have also helped to deliver the PCT's 'Healthy Expectations' consultation during which we contacted thousands of local stakeholders, practitioners and members of the public.  We have also assisted in engagement work around the HPV vaccination due to be introduced in September to ensure that take-up is as high as possible.

West Midlands SHA

We worked alongside Teamwork Ms and members of Mental Health Strategies, The Manufacturing Institute, and Complexity Solutions to design, organise and facilitate ten clinical groups with the purpose of identifying clinically endorsed opportunities to reduce NHS expenditure through a focus on innovation to improve both productivity and the quality of patient care.

NHS Kirklees

We have worked with NHS Kirklees to reduce the alcohol consumption in young women.  Based on the insight process, we developed ideas for a social marketing campaign applying several approaches seeking to influence behaviour change among young women.  The combined with initiatives such as changes to pub drinks promotions, and using social networks to create a more supportive context for responsible drinking.

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust – a mental health trust – wanted to increase its membership levels among members of the public. We recruited over 3000 public members for the trust, spread over its six constituencies. This contributed to its approval as an accredited foundation trust, and more importantly means that the organisation now has access to a large and representative group of members who can respond to consultations, participate in focus groups, and elect governors to represent the public's point of view at trust events.

Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

We have worked with the Trust assisting them in a range of ways to guide them through Foundation Trust status. We have undertaken membership recruitment on a face to face basis working on and off the hospital site. Maximising the benefits of the Trust membership has been a key objective of the Trust and we have worked with the Trust Board to explore this in more detail. We have also conducted a series of Governor Candidate Induction workshops.
