Jonathan Upton

Chairman

Jonathan UptonSince founding TCC in 2001 with David Evans, Jonathan has driven forward our work on developing peer led methodologies in our social marketing and behaviour change campaigns. He oversees the Campaign Company's work within the health sector as the importance of member engagement has increased through the patient choice agenda.

Jonathan has worked with numerous membership organisations to improve the effectiveness of their campaigns and believes this is only achievable by maximising member involvement. He has also led our pioneering work with numerous health trusts in developing their membership communities.

David Evans

Managing Director

David EvansSince founding TCC in 2001 with Jonathan Upton, David has been responsible for developing the company’s communications and community engagement capacity. He has developed highly innovative methods of engagement such as the widely acclaimed Young Mayor scheme and is pioneering our community cohesion work with a range of local authorities. He also designs and implements training and support programmes for a variety of membership based organisations.

David has over twenty years experience of marketing and political communications gained in local government and politics.

Peter Watt

Chief Executive

Peter WattBefore joining The Campaign Company Peter had a distinguished career with the British Labour Party culminating in two years as General Secretary. During his eleven years there he developed communications and political management expertise at all levels. Peter has considerable experience in planning campaigns and message development. Before his career in politics, Peter was a Registered General Nurse specialising in acute medicine for the elderly.

Peter and his wife Vilma are active foster carers and parents to a growing number of children. Peter is the Chair of the Kingston Foster Carers Association.

As well as being responsible for the day-to-day running of the company Peter works on projects in the Health and Local Communities sectors. He has helped to deliver campaigns and innovative engagement programmes for local authorities, PCT's, Foundation Trusts and Trade Unions. He also provides high level consultancy on communications, strategy and message development.

Rachel Gregson

Director of Health (with responsibility for TCC North)

Rachel GregsonWith more than five years experience working in NHS communications, Rachel has a strong track record of delivery across internal and external communications as well as media relations.

Before joining TCC Rachel worked as communications manager at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, where she successfully handled major national and international news stories, including the UK's first live liver transplant and Richard Hammond's car crash. Rachel was also responsible for developing and managing the organisation's internal communications and Leeds-wide initiatives with partner organisations.

In her role at TCC Rachel has been responsible for providing media management and communications support to Barnsley Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Currently, Rachel is leading on our social marketing work in South Yorkshire as well as perceptions and stakeholder communications audit work with health agencies in the North of England.

Debbie Coulter

Director of Equalities & Employee Engagement.

Debbie CoulterDebbie was a trade union Official for over 20 years and was the first woman to be elected as Deputy General Secretary of the GMB. She has worked across all sectors of industry, primarily within the public sector. She has served as a member of the ACAS council for 4 years and was awarded an OBE for her services to employment relations in 2007.

During her career in the trade union movement she was actively involved in developing equality and diversity policies and she was a Commissioner on the Women and Work Commission. She was also a member of the Commission on Vulnerable Employment. On behalf of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, Debbie has worked on conflict resolution, democracy promotion and party development projects in Kosovo, Moscow and Indonesia.

At TCC, Debbie works primarily on projects in the communities sector.

Gwilym Morris

Non-Executive Director

Gwilym MorrisGwilym has considerable experience working with the public, private and third sectors creating accessible and inclusive relationships with hard to reach groups. Nearly all of Gwilym’s roles over the last 15 years have involved the active engagement of stakeholders in large scale change management. He has particular expertise of developing effective engagement programmes aimed at older people and people with learning disabilities including those who use social care.

Gwilym is vastly experienced in developing quality assurance processes to guarantee the success of engagement programmes having undertaken this role for the last eight years for clients such as: the Ministry of Justice, Electoral Commission, Scope and Accenture.

Gwilym has pioneered our work in the area of patient experience in the NHS and brings a customer focused approach to the research work that we conduct. He has led the work to map the patient experience for Sheffield PCT’s provider arm and has also recently developed a hard to reach engagement toolkit on behalf of NHS Sheffield.

Graeme Alexander Wilson

Director of Resource and Delivery (South)

Graeme WilsonBefore joining The Campaign Company Graeme worked as a Parliamentary researcher for a member of the Liberal Democrat Treasury Team. He graduated with a degree in politics from the University of Strathclyde in 2001 and has volunteered with Amnesty International in Edinburgh working on a major donor project and also with the Commonwealth Policy Study Unit (CPSU) in London on the Ramphal Centre project.

Graeme works across a number of the business sectors and is responsible for front line day to day delivery and resource allocation. Graeme's responsibilities include team management, line management, and client management.

Have worked extensively in the communities and membership organisation sectors of the business, Graeme has helped the company to deliver innovative community engagement projects and high level consultancy to large and small membership organisations.

Matthew Upton

Director of Youth Services Mathew Upton

Matthew leads on TCC’s work with children and young people. He leads the Young Mayor Network (YMN) which offers support and guidance to Young Mayors across the country and has worked on numerous youth engagement initiatives, ranging from participatory budgeting programmes to work with youth councils. In addition to project managing the largest public consultation in Croydon’s history, mapping out a vision for the next 30 years for the borough, he has lead on consultation programmes in East Sussex, Lewisham and Northamptonshire. He is currently working with four councils in the north-east on the Connecting Communities programme.

Matthew volunteered at an orphanage in northern Thailand in 2007 where he established a participatory budgeting programme which is supported by TCC.

Kevin Huggins Cooper

Director of Public Sector Transformation.

Kevin Huggins Cooper An effective and innovative senior leader and manager, who has worked for 6 years at Board level in a rapidly improving council, responsible for corporate services and council transformation. With almost 25 years of public and voluntary sector experience, he has been responsible for major programmes on communications, community engagement and equalities and diversity, and has worked on the development and delivery of major value for money and inspection programmes at the Audit Commission.

Kevin has worked on the development of Local Strategic Partnerships and has led the development of community strategies and visioning activities.

Claire Harding

Senior Project Officer; with responsibility for project support and delivery.

Claire HardingClaire specialises in community cohesion and engagement, working for local authorities across England. She is responsible for TCC's Capital Ambition research and project delivery for Bexley, Havering and Sutton, and has recently been managing part of the Leadership Training element of the Connecting Communities programme.

Claire has a first class degree in history from the University of Cambridge, where she specialised in British social history. She has previously worked for London Underground and for a human rights charity.

Jessica Griffiths

Senior Project Officer; with responsibility for project support and delivery.

Jessica GriffithsJessica has significant experience in project management and communications. Previous to The Campaign Company Jessica worked in the Maldives managing an NGO devoted to the promotion of democracy and human rights, in Geneva for the UK Foreign Office and she holds a first class degree in English Literature from the University of York.

Jessica has been a project manager for several challenging community cohesion projects, as well as successfully delivering social marketing and research projects across local authorities and the NHS. She is a trained mediator and volunteers at the Croydon Stroke Association.

Debbie Woodward

Senior Project Officer.

Debbie WoodwardDebbie joined The Campaign Company in May 2010, having a strong track record for both project management and delivery in both the public and voluntary sectors. Her experience has been gained from working in and with challenged communities, particularly in the themes of community safety and social housing. In supporting Neighbourhood Renewal projects, Debbie has assisted public and voluntary sector partnerships in the delivery of community safety, healthier communities and change for children strategies.

Debbie holds qualifications in Adult Teaching, Project Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Management. A practitioner and trainer in Restorative Justice, Debbie uses RJ principles both in offender/victim settings and in the resolution of conflict in communities.

Matt Maguire

Project Officer; with responsibility for project support and delivery.

Matt MaguireMatt graduated with a degree in Politics & German Studies from Southampton University in 2007 and has worked on a temporary basis in various government departments whilst interning for a Labour MP at Westminster.

Matt works primarily in the communities & youth sectors, with a particular focus on community cohesion and youth engagement work. He has previously been heavily involved in the establishment of Community Communications in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, has organised and conducted ballots for the election of the Young Mayor of Newham 2008 and has also provided support on a wide variety of other projects across all sectors.

Rodolfo Maggio

Anthropologist

Rodolfo Maggio

Rodolfo joined TCC while completing an MSc in Anthropology and Development at the LSE. He has a BA in Cultural Anthropology and some experience of field research with religious groups and rural communities. He previously worked in France and Italy as Private Teacher of English and Humanities.

Rodolfo brings an anthropological perspective to the Company’s work on Community Cohesion and Value Modes, with a constant attention to the unexpected variables of the multi-cultural society. He periodically discusses his findings with the rest of the team.

Leila Woodhouse

Project Officer; with responsibility for project support and delivery.

Leila WoodhouseLeila has previously worked for the advocacy department of Oxfam International and for Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. She has a first in Politics and Human Rights from the University of Essex, and has recently completed a postgraduate degree in Violence, Conflict and Development at the School of Oriental and African Studies.

Leila is utilising her experience across The Campaign Company's sectors, with a particular focus on health.

Jessica Davis

Project Officer; with responsibility for project support and delivery.

Jessica DavisJess specialises in project management in TCC’s communities and youth sectors. She coordinated the national Leadership Training programme that ran 31 insight projects simultaneously in wards identified by CLG's Connecting Communities scheme. She has conducted depth research with seldom heard from groups across the country and specialises in communications strategies that empathise by understanding the needs of its audience.  Jess is currently designing and managing a series of educational and engaging youth events and coordinating two national consultations.

Before joining TCC in November 2009, Jess completed an MSc with Distinction in Equality and Human Rights at the University of Glasgow. She previously worked in marketing for a large academic and professional publisher and as a campaign organiser for LGBT rights in the U.S.

Oliver Lewis

Project Officer; with responsibility for project support and delivery.

Oliver LewisOliver is in his second spell at TCC. His time with the company began in 2007 on a major consultation in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. He left in January 2009 and travelled in Australasia and Central America for 7 months. Oliver returned to TCC in September 2009 and is again focusing on community engagement and participation.

Prior to joining the campaign company Oliver graduated in Politics and International Relations from the University of Southampton. He previously worked at the NHS Confederation and for a young persons homelessness charity.

Maureen Allen

Project Officer; with responsibility for project support and delivery.

Maureen AllenMaureen has over 20 years experience working and supporting community organisations   London  and the South East. Starting out as a volunteer youth worker she completed Goldsmiths’ Youth and   Community course and has since held a variety of roles including  managing  an urban study centre,  co-ordinating a community publishing group and running a women’s only transport service. Working at Community Links  Bromley provided her with the opportunity to specialise in  advising and delivering training   on capacity building  and quality assurance programmes , not to mention unique food sampling  of home-made cakes and biscuits.

At TCC, Maureen works on the community communicators project in the London Borough of Bexley.

Edward Lewsey

Community Communicator in Havering

Edward LewseyEdward graduated from the University of Essex in 2008 with a BA in Modern History & Politics. Whilst at university he became involved with volunteering, namely with the student run and led crisis listening service Nightline as an executive committee member, and as a First Aider and executive committee member with St. John Ambulance LINKS. Since leaving university Edward has worked for Maldon District Council in historic conservation and with the Spatial Planning & Policy team. He has continued with St. John Ambulance and does volunteer work with Essex Police. Last November he attained a project management qualification and joining TCC in 2010 Edward is now starting work on a project in Havering and other office duties.

Yasmin Dar

Business Support Administrator.

Yasmin DarYasmin graduated from London Metropolitan University in 2004 with a BA Hons in Business and Business IT. Yasmin has since worked with a variety of Local Government Boroughs developing excellent customer service, administration and business support skills, including ideas to streamline business process to provide a certain level of efficiency and support within a Business. Yasmin has a portfolio of skills which have been achieved through undertaking projects within Procurement, Personnel/ HR and Learning and Development. During previous roles Yasmin has provided support to HR Managers, Business Partners and Service Delivery managers, gaining a wide range of experience within both Public and Private Sector companies. At TCC Yasmin is responsible for supporting the business development, marketing and procurement teams and embedding best practice throughout the organisation. Yasmin plays a key role in supporting all staff members in the organisation and works closely with each Director to support the efficient and organised approach to the day to day running of the business.

Christian Marescaux

Systems and Project manager; with responsibility for the development of digital representation and configuring and maintaining office systems and equipment.

Christian MarescauxChristian brings The Campaign Company over 8 years experience in a range of areas of computing, including Windows, Mac and Linux Operating Systems, networking topology and servers. Christian has experience of both network and project management.

Christian is working closely with the team developing our website and is responsible for operating and maintaining the companies office communications systems, developing multi media resources and providing cost effective solutions to support the growth of the company.

Robert Evans

Office Assistant; with responsibility for office adminstration.

Robert EvansBefore joining The Campaign Company, Robert worked for ten years as a kitchen assistant at the Elmwood Nursing Home. He has also worked as a shop assistant at the Croydon Co-operative and Sainsbury’s. Rob has recently been awarded his NVQ level 2 in Business and Administration.

Rob works part time for The Campaign Company and is responsible for keeping the office clean and tidy, monitoring of stationery, post and franking, looking after full time staff and visitors and purchasing of day to day office supplies.

Sarah Driscoll

Business Support Manager; with responsibility for the company's HR strategy and implementation, financial management, Operational support and managing the office in Croydon.

Sarah DriscollSarah originally trained as a Secondary PE teacher at Chichester University and before joining The Campaign Company Sarah worked as a Project Manager for Specsavers, where she successfully managed and implemented a national roll out of new furniture/equipment into over 400 UK stores.

In her role at TCC Sarah works closely with the Business Development team and plays a key role in the implementation and facilitation of new systems and project management processes. As part of her HR role, Sarah is responsible for all recruitment, staff training, the staff appraisal process, resource management and provides key statistical financial and project management information to the Senior Management Team to assist in the delivery of the company's key objectives.

Charlie Mansell

Research and Political Development Officer

Charlie MansellCharlie joined The Campaign Company in December 2006. He worked as a civil servant in the Treasury in Whitehall for 16 years and was a local Councillor for 20 years. This included a number of years carrying out the role full time. He was a member of a Community Health Council for 10 years and also a Police Consultative Group. His proudest work was as a non-executive director of a Regeneration Partnership for 10 years, which led to the complete regeneration of a 1,800 home housing estate so that there is now a waiting list to move there instead of residents wanting to move away. Charlie has a wide-ranging knowledge of community engagement across the local government, policing, health and housing sectors through practical and active hands-on involvement over the last 25 years.

Charlie focuses on ensuring that The Campaign Company is at the cutting edge of all the fields it is involved with. He is also involved in the preparatory work for many projects including many of our social marketing and all our community cohesion projects. He has also worked on the delivery of projects including: Barking and Dagenham Community Cohesion Strategy, East Sussex Community Engagement Project, Musicians Union UMF and North Tyneside Neighbourhood mapping.

Christopher Hill

Project Officer; with responsibility for project support and delivery.

Chris HillChris joined The Campaign Company after obtaining an MA in Research Methods in Politics from the University of Sheffield and previously studied a BSc in Marketing from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Christopher has a background of social research and commercial marketing. He is currently studying a PG Cert in Social Marketing at the University of Brighton.

Extensive use of his social research skills have been used in facilitation of QIPP events, PCT internal audits and other varied insight projects. Currently, Chris is developing and delivering TCC’s total patient experience offering following earlier patient experience projects.
